Empowering youth through sports & recreation

Who is Lane Leedahl?
Lane Leedahl was one of those “larger than life” type guys. He was a father, husband, son, brother, cheerleader to many, avid sports fan, and video gamer. In the community of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Lane was a cherished elementary school teacher and a treasured sports coach.

Lane found ways to connect with each player or student--- often giving each kid a nickname or learning about their unique interests. He was known for his one-liners, and could often be heard saying things like, “Ball is life” or "Weather it". The lessons he taught his teams on the court or field were not solely to win a game, tournament, or title. His lessons were about life, community, showing up for each other, determination, and never, ever, giving up without a good fight. He never shied away from a hard conversation or enforcing rules, and he led his classes and teams with compassion, honesty, and integrity at the forefront of all he did.

When Lane was asked how he was he always responded, “Blessed” even after receiving a stage IV cancer diagnosis at age 38. He found blessings in every situation, hardship, and twist of his journey. His optimism was contagious and a gift to all who knew him. Lane never lost his zest for life and always found ways to boost people’s days. He was passionate about sports--- always pushing himself and others to focus on player development and team-building.
Lane died on November 16, 2024 after a 3-year cancer journey. We established the Lane Leedahl Blessed Foundation to honor Lane and ensure that his legacy lives on.
